Kristy and Jo’s Loud and Proud Lancashire Wedding
Episode Two: The One Where The Dog Moves In
To begin with, Kirsty and Joe spent a lot of time hanging out with each other’s families. Not that they had a choice about this. The very first ‘evening’ they spent together, Joe had left his shoes outside Kirsty’s room, and that was enough for the sisters to know what was going on. And if they knew what was going on, everyone knew what was going on! Luckily Kirsty and Joe didn’t just like each other, they liked each other’s tribes, though Joe’s sister Sara did point out that their family’s offerings of almost daily roast dinners were completely wasted on Kirsty, a lifelong vegetarian. There was already a lot of love, food and humour between the families in those early days, but things got more serious when a dog moved in. And not just any dog, this was a dog with a double-barrelled surname: DollyAnn Kayleigh Barrow. The dog belonged to a patient that Kirsty was seeing, and who was sadly not able to look after said dog for long periods of time. Never one to shirk on her professional duties, Kirsty took the dog home to her mum for ‘just one night’ but as we are all learning, Kirsty has some conceptual difficulties with processing time, and one night turned into many nights, and Joe fell in love this time with the dog. He stopped going home, moved in officially with Kirsty in 2011, and these days goes to his mum’s occasionally for a meat feast like, in his words, ‘a crack addict.’
